Fryslân Card for tourists

One day free public transport in Friesland!


From the end of April 2017 until the end of 2018, tourists who visit the Frisian Lakes area  (, and as well as the National Park Drents-Friese Wold ( can use the public transports of the company Arriva (bus and train) for free during one day. It concerns a trial till the end of 2018 initiated by the province of Friesland with a total cost of 575.000 euros.



Where and when available and travel with it?
During 2017, the free public transport day-ticket, the Fryslân Card, can only be used by tourists who stay in the communities of the Fryske Marren (Frisian Lakes: Joure-Lemmer-Gaasterland), Súdwest-Fryslân (South-west: Sneek-South-west Friesland, Frisian IJsselmeer coast), Opsterland (Beetsterzwaag-Gorredijk-Peat Course) and Ooststellingwerf (Oosterwolde-Appelscha-Peat Course).

The free public transport day-ticket will be offered by the accommodation to every tourist that stays in one of the four above mentioned communes from mid April up to mid October 2017.

So the day-ticket will only be available at the places where someone is staying in the communities De Fryske Marren, Súdwest-Fryslân, Opsterland and Ooststellingwerf. Consult and
